Litterboxd - The Cat Returns (2002)
Dec 09, 2025

The GBGBs are back with another installment of "Litterboxd", their purr-rific cat-movie marathon! This time they review their first Studio Ghibli movie seen on the show, The Cat Returns (2003). This movie stars GBGB alum Anne Hathaway as Haru, a high school student who is brought to the Cat Kingdom after saving the life of a cat prince. Haru then enlists the help of the dashing debonair cat, The Baron, to help her escape the Cat Kingdom and reverse her transformation into a cat. Me-wow!

Now I know what you're thinkin' now. Don't you even think about it. You wanna click this here GBGB episode and try to hear the review of Pet Sematary (1989). I know you wanna listen to more of the Cat Season but it aint right. The episode's gone sour you see? You'll think it's a GBGBs episode but it won't be right. One of the cohosts will have listened to the episode in a different language he doesn't speak (without subtitles??) and the other two will complain about how there wasn't enough of the cat the whole time. But now...

Bonus - Wild Wild West (1999)
Nov 17, 2025

Ryan is out of town this week so Jace and Denali take control of the train and drive it straight to WILD WILD WEST (1999)! Once touted as the most expensive film ever made, WWW stars Will Smith and Kevin Kline as special agents charged with thwarting a plot to assassinate the president in a post-civil war steam-punk America. This movie also happens to be one of the biggest box office flops of all time, so 2/3 of the GBGBs decided to have another look at this thing to see if it deserves a second chance (it doesn't).

Litterboxd - Keanu (2016)
Nov 10, 2025

Me-WOW the GBGBs are back with episode 2 of the Cat Season with a review of KEANU (2016). Remember this movie? It's basically a 90 min Key and Peele sketch where two friends try to rescue their new beloved kitty from a ruthless kingpin. The kitten is voiced by GBGBs alum Keanu Reeves, but only for like 3 seconds unlike what the internet told us. The GBGBs also bring back their very ill-advised audio improv segment and discuss whether or not this is a true "Cat Movie" (TM).

This movie stars Rufus Sewell as Murdoch, a guy with amnesia living in a bizarre dreamlike city ruled by a mysterious secret order called The Strangers. It is often said that this movie set the aesthetic blueprint for movies like The Matrix and Inception, but what do we know?

But there are animals though! This animated film made a massive splash at the box office in 2016 and we thought it would be a great time to pay it a revisit in light of the recent sequel announcement.

*Apologies for the sound quality this episode, we had lost the original file but used a lower quality backup*

Despite mixed results with previous movies, the GBGBs embarked on their 3rd Terry Gilliam project with The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988)! This movie stars John Neville as our titular Baron who spins a wild tale of his exploits to a beleaguered theater crowd while the Ottoman empire lays siege to their city. To say hijinks ensue would be an understatement. This fella gets into some real wacky stuff. Denali does his best to be fair but did NOT...

This movie stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as a young married couple navigating their relationship while Tom stumbles into a strange seedy underbelly that he can't seem to stay away from..... EWS is also known as Stanley Kubrick's last film and is HOTLY debated amongst critics. Will the GBGBs like this movie even though it runs almost 3 hours? The Last Stop in Yuma County (2023)
Jun 23, 2025

This week the GBGBs review The Last Stop in Yuma County, a neat lil indie flick starring Jim Cummings. The movie is about a traveling knife salesman getting trapped at a diner with a pair of bank robbers and a handful of locals and hijinks ensue. If any folks want to actually see this movie, we'd recommend NOT watching the trailer and going in cold.

AWOOOO it's a werewolf episode!!! Dog Soldiers is a Bri'ish film that stars a lot of proper blokes like Kevin Mckidd and Liam Cunningham. It's about a team of soldiers trying to survive an attack by a pack of werewolves while on a training exercise in the Scottish Highlands. Listen as the GBGBs discuss werewolf mechanics, whether they'd choose to be a werewolf if given the chance, and novel uses of the word "bone".

Directed by John Carpenter, The Thing stars Kurt Russell as a stoic research scientist trapped in an Antarctic base with a shapeshifting alien that is violently assimilating his coworkers. Hijinks ensue, and somehow multiple WWII flamethrowers get involved.

We've also heard rumors that one of us is an assimilated Thing alien. We would like to publicly refute those rumors and assure our audience that gloopity schlorp glorp squelch SKREEEEEE

Note to our listeners: This episode was recorded back in December 2024, before David Lynch's passing in January. RIP David Lynch, maybe one day the GBGBs can honor your work by reviewing some of your other buck-wild amazing films.

This week the GBGBs review DUNE (the version from 1984). The first DUNE, before the pretty solid 2000 made-for-TV DUNE, before the excellent Denis Villeneuve DUNES, and before the ill-advised HBO series DUNE: Prophecy. This movie introduced mainstream audiences to Kyle Maclachlan and Patrick Stewart and had to break a lot of ground quickly for the sci-fi epic genre. In...

All he wants to do is take his daughter to a concert to see her favorite pop star, Lady Raven (played by Saleka Night). We decided to step out of the gate swinging with our review of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the third movie in the increasingly ridiculous heist/action/superhero?? franchise.

We discuss car movies as a genre, cars as a concept, and discuss where Tokyo Drift ranks in the pantheon of Fast and Furious movies.

The Seann Shack: State of the Podcast
Aug 21, 2023

THE TIME HAS COME! Our Seann William Scott marathon has come to a close and the GBGBs will now convene to debrief on the season. The journey was a strange one, we laughed, we scratched our heads, we oofed, but we came away with a newfound appreciation for our friend Seann.

After discussing the highs and lows of the season (and reviewing our Seann-OO-MMeters for each movie) we humbly approached the great Wheel of Chaos to decide our theme for season 9. As is tradition, we each presented two pitches for next season, placed them on the wheel a...

The Seann Shack - American Pie
Jul 25, 2023

Well folks, they finally did it, the GBGBs reviewed American Pie - probably the most iconic (and controversial) performance by our friend Seann William Scott. And we would be remiss to not review one of the most influential teen comedies of 00s. This is of course Seann's feature film debut as the famous Stifler. Ten episodes of Seann William Scott movies have lead us to this unfortunate point and we have no choice but to critically analyze this questionable movie. Does it hold up? Do we like the Stiffmeister? Did this deserve so many sequels? Find out in our...

Eight episodes into our Seann William Scott marathon and we have arrived at GOON (2011)! This film had a limited release in Canada but later surged in popularity on Netflix, leading fans to consider this a bit of a comeback for our buddy SWS.

Goon stars Seann William Scott as Doug Glatt, a dimwitted hockey fan who gets recruited to a minor league hockey team as an "Enforcer" after a video of him fighting goes viral.

This movie stars our good pal Seann William Scott as the wisecracking leader of a heist crew who are attempting to steal an ancient statue under the cover of a rave. Does this sound like an insane AI output? Yes. But fear not friends, this movie is all natty, and boy is it a doozy.

This dude was coming hot out of the gate in 2000 with this unique twist on the horror genre. Final Destination spawned a long line of sequels and induced a lifelong fear of log trucks for an entire generation.
