The 2024 Winter Anime season has come to a close. If you've been paying attention then you'll know what shows the crew have placed at the top of their lists. We have a full house for a rather depressing episode of the podcast. It's an all-news special cumulating in the marking of the passing of two figures, one lesser known and one an absolute giant. We tip our hats to Tales Of illustrator Mutsumi Inomata before we dedicate the majority of the run time to Akira Toriyama. We go over the impact that Toriyama had in the manga, anime, and video game industry both at home and across the entire world. Then we try to brighten the room a bit with some recommendations.

Otakon 2021 was the first major anime convention since 2019, and it brought our three main boys together for the first time in person. No news is good news. Cain, DJ, and Kestrel have a month of news to cover and while some of it is welcome, much of it isn't. Demon Slayer continues to slay, while more Madoka, Made in Abyss, and Lupin the 3rd are on the horizon. Vinland Saga and a slew of others finally get a home release and a bunch of Dragon Quest stuff is coming as well! Yet the untimely and unexpected death of Berserk creator Kentarou Miura has shaken the industry and the fans. We discuss the legacy of his work and the pressure that creators...

A year of being trapped away from other people has not had a detrimental effect on us, nope! And we have anime to thank for that! It's spring, and a new crop of anime is budding. It looks to be a hell of an anime season and the gang is all here with our thoughts! We are on the eve of the annual anime sales season, but we have some news to get through before the sales actually kick-off! Summer convention season is a bust, or is it? Kate and Kestrel run down the news and announcements from AX lite, Funicon, and Aniplex's.... whatever. Is it really a convention if nobody is convening? Is it really an exposition with no bill of goods? Kestrel watched an awful lot of the panels and breaks down what worked, what didn't, and the conundrum that is the business hierarchy. This week we have a short-cast where Kate, DJ, and an increasingly disappointed Kestrel discuss how everything is canceled, likely canceled, or postponed until further notice. Fandom Post is a mostly work-at-home operation so at least we have that working for us. After the news, we dive into the video game industry for a bit to talk about the specs for the next-generation systems, DJ's porn game, Nioh 2, and how to stay sane during an epidemic. 

It's a sleepy week in anime land. Conventions are being canceled right and left as a pandemic sweeps the globe. At least we have anime to keep us sane in the middle of this outbreak. We have news to share about Netflix and Crunchyroll funded shows. We talk about some newer releases and the ongoing anime season. We look ahead a bit to touch upon the bigger shows coming out next season and later this year. DJ plugs his eroge, Kate googles on air, and Kestrel is very disappointed in both of us.

Well, it's awards season, again.

It was the fortnight before Christmas and out in the rain, not a creature was stirring, not even a Cain. We may be down a person but DJ, Kestrel, and Kate are here checking their wish lists and bringing you our favorite buys of the year to stuff your stockings with. Be it manga bundles, Ghibli special editions, light novels or visual novels, there is certain to be one worth putting on your list. 

"It was a potpourri episode. Anime focused elements were Anime NYC, Idol Fandom, and Midseason review for the good shows," said Cain as he ate a leftover turkey sandwich. Kestrel and DJ nodded sagely from the cozy confines of their respective corners of the earth. Meanwhile, Kate was trapped in a Kohl's while her niece tried on pajama sets before arriving late to Frozen II. 

"GO ON WITHOUT ME!" she shouted as the crowd consumered her.

So they went on, and on, and on.
