We are in a cosmic war, but we already know how it ends; Christ is victorious. As we live in the already and not yet, we must dwell in peace, wage war, and hold on to hope.

On the day of Judgement, the only people who will be saved are those whom God has chosen in Christ, and who have conquered by a life of faith. Therefore, cling to Christ and look for His coming.

Jesus has come and is coming to conquer sin and death and build a city for His people. This city is a place of unending light and life and joy, because in this city, God has made His home among His people.

God’s Word is a treasure, therefore we must treasure it. We need God to move in our hearts so that we can hide His Word in our hearts and guard our hearts!

In the Kingdom of God, all authority is given that we might better serve God and others. In Christ, we are called to submit ourselves to one another, honoring every authority and using all authority to build others up.

The fundamental posture, not only for marriage but for every Christian relationship, is self-submission. The meaning of marriage is to be a living picture of the self-giving, all-redeeming love of Jesus Christ for His people. The love which finds it’s consummation not in any earthly union, but in the marriage which begins at the end and never comes to an end.

Walking in the light is inherently rooted in our new identity in Christ. Children of light must live in resistance to participation in the ways of darkness and expose the darkness by walking in the light.

Our relationships with each other are either a reflection or refutation of the Gospel’s power in our life. We must lay aside a purposeless approach to relationships.

To miss the church is to miss the Gospel, because the church is why Christ was born, lived, died, and was raised. And because of that, the church, and whatever it is, is at the very heart of God’s plan for the universe.

The beginning of a healthy, biblical identity is joyful submission to Christ as Lord. The Gospel shaped identity puts its hope in Jesus, not self.

Our undeserving and sin-filled hearts are dependent on God's grace to bring salvation through Christ. In Christ, the legal demands of our sin have been satisfied and in Christ our family status and identity have changed.

Our most blessed God, before time began, chose to redeem us in Christ, that we would know, love, and praise Him for His grace!

Trials produce a steadfast faith in us, making us whole and mature. In your life, don't run from trials, rather, rejoice in them and cling to God!

Love looks like seeking the good of others above your own. And the only sure foundation of your love for others is His love for you.

God is our gracious provider and our sovereign King. We must bring every request to Him in full confidence that He is a Good Father who knows and provides what we need.

 In your life, don’t be a critic, be a servant!

The Law of the Lord is perfect! It is more precious than gold and sweeter than honey and it restores the soul.

You can always tell who your refuge is by where you take refuge. 

Matthew 5:38-48 

Your love for people displays your love for God. In any area we reject to be shaped and ruled by God’s love, including our love for our enemies or persecutors, we are rejecting the Gospel.

God’s people must be a people of reconciliation and forgiveness. And we can reconcile and forgive because in Christ Jesus we have been reconciled to God and are forgiven.

Jesus did not come to abolish the law. Instead, He came to fulfill, to teach, and to lead us into a life of obedience to the Law of God!

Disciples of Jesus have been set apart as the salt and light of the world. The Christian life is the constant, grace-empowered pursuit of deeper, truer, and more lasting godliness in every area.

God wants to make us happy through a life of earthly hardships.

The Kingdom has come, and the light has dawned. A life apart of this Kingdom is one that has heard the message of King Jesus, has believed what He has spoken, and therefore, responds with a life of seeking the King and His Kingdom in every area of life!

If you’re not connected to the source, you won’t find lasting life. But when you do connect to the true source, which is Christ Jesus, you will find life far richer than what this world can offer!

Genesis 50:15-21

The ground of a gracious life is faith in the God of Grace! We are called to radical grace with each other in response to God’s radical grace for us.

God has a plan for His people, that He will fulfill it, and in that, there is a call for the people of God to stick to the plan! Jesus is the plan. 

Genesis 39:20-40:23

Because God is with us, we can and we must stay faithful in times of trouble.

Rejoicing in Christ as king begins with trusting in Him and nothing else as our hope!

Genesis 38 & 39 - Because Jesus has paid the price of sin, broken the power of sin, and by His Spirit, united us with Him, we must flee from evil and run towards righteousness!

Christ has come to not only call us to holiness, but to make us holy.

Passage: 1 Thessalonians 1:2-10

The church has been appointed to be Christ’s ambassadors of the Gospel, right here and right now.

A Godward life will love to be generous, because in our generosity, we are pursuing our truest treasure! God’s not asking you to be generous with what He hasn’t given you, He’s calling you to be generous with all that He’s given you.

Real, life changing faith begins and ends with seeing God’s love displayed in Christ! If you want to know how much, how radically, how beyond-anything-you-could-ever-do God has loved you, you need to know Jesus and what He has done for His people.

Jesus came to make us holy. Holiness is being wholly devoted to God. Therefore, if we are in Christ, we must strive to be wholistically holy!

God invites us to do business with unconditional dependence upon Him.

If we would live godly lives, we will seek godly things in godly ways,because we trust in the goodness of God.

In and over everything, in creation and redemption, God is sovereign.

As those who belong to a faithful God, we can trust Him, and obey His commands, even when we can’t see how it will all turn out.

In Christ, the living water which makes all things new is flowing into all of Creation. God has and is keeping His promise! The Church is the expression of that reality in the here and now. Meaning, if we are the people of God, we must be a people from whom living water flows into dry and weary places!

There is no greater joy we can experience this year and no greater purpose you can have in your life than knowing and enjoying God. Prayer is a practice God gifted to His people to help us do this.

There is One King who’s name will stand forever, One God, One Lord, One Savior, and the only hope that you and I can have for life. In the baby in a Manger, we see that before He came in glory, our King came as a servant. Before He came to judge, He came to save. He is a King of love, of grace, and of good news. Let’s bow before Him and adore Him together!

We can live in unity, humility, generosity, not because we’ve given up hope of our good, but because we’ve found what is most good in Jesus!

The incarnation is the moment when all of God’s promises took on flesh and entered time. Believing this isn’t about an idea, or a value, it’s about a person~

If it is true that in Christ we have all that we need, we are free to embrace the way of the cross!

Abraham prayed for Sodom because of the righteous. God's people are called to pray for the world knowing that they are in the world as those who are created, love, and called by God!

In this passage, we find God’s precious promise to His people, the requisite signs and realities for their participation in the promise, and the work He performs in order that they are able to fulfill that which He has commanded.

The only way forward, while we await the promise, is to trust in the One whose promise never fails.

Here in Genesis, through the life of Abraham, we are reminded that seeing clearly begins with trusting in the One who is Sovereign over all, and the Christian response to any result in life ought to be one that entrusts all glory and gain to the One who alone is worthy!

In a fearful world, there is an Almighty, all-faithful God who loves His people well. Trust in Him!

In our life, we can either settle in Babel, and bet on pride, or we can humbly sojourn by faith to the land of promise.

Through the story of Noah and the Flood, we see that our cursed hearts are wholly dependent on a gracious and just, covenant keeping God for salvation and deliverance!

From the story of Cain and Abel, we begin to see and understand the reality that in our world, the battle between good and evil is all around us, whether or not we see it! In everything we are engaged in a spiritual war. And in a world of devouring darkness, God is bringing life to those who walk with Him!

At Fall, sin came into this world and because of sin the world is broken and dying. But God, in His goodness and grace, has a plan and a promise to make all things new!

Of all creation, God made us special; and only in Christ can we be what we are made to be!

If we want to have a life of true meaning, if we want to have hope, if we want to rightly value every human being, the truth that God is The Creator must be the foundation of our reality.

Jesus came to give us free, true, and pure life! Every person has sexual baggage, sexual addiction, or at the least, is living in a culture where they are constantly called to compromise God’s truth for satan’s lie. There is no place in God’s church for sexual immorality, we must pursue purity.

If we want to be faithful till the end, avoiding or hating evil isn’t enough, we’ve got to love Jesus! In Christ, we become a people who overcome the world by faith expressed in love. A vibrant, passionate, singular, and victorious love in Christ!

If we want to live a life that loves God most, and loves others well, we must begin with and live by faith. This is where love comes from! This is where obedience comes from! Knowing, and trusting in, and being united with our Savior and Sovereign, Jesus Christ.

The church is called to be a place that lovingly and faithfully seeks the wanderer. In this, we become a church more full of real holiness, long lasting friendship and fruit, and radical testimony to the wonder of God’s grace!

We must be careful to not boast in our plans as if we hold control over the outcome. Instead, we can humbly submit and look to our God who holds control in His hands and know exactly what His children need.

The tongue is wild, but a redeemed tongue joins in singing for more to worship. The tongue is a fire, but a redeemed tongue joins the psalmist in the friction of sanctification.

Passage(s): James 3:1-12

James challenges believers in this passage to never show partiality. When we do, we break the Kingdom law. From this challenge, we receive this call to become a people of radical, proactive, costly, unprejudiced mercy. 

Passage: James 2:1-13

As believers, we must never graduate from the Gospel. We must, everyday, preach to ourselves the Gospel and reminder ourselves of who we are in Christ and what He has done for us!

Passage: Psalm 40

This passage is all about clarifying true religion from false religion, because in this passage, we find the promise that there is a kind of religion which is certain to produce blessing and life. 

Passage: James 1:19-27

God, our Maker, and in Christ, our Father, is good. He is for His people, and He there is a gift that we have received, that when we have rightly oriented our hearts around it, should leave us supremely grateful, no matter the season, no matter the storm. 

Passage: James 1:17-18

Pride is a dangerous proposition that every person is prone to elevate in one's life. James helps to show us that we must crucify pride and pursue humility, because God humbles the proud and gives grace to the humble!

Passage: James 1:9-11, 4:1-10

There are two sources that promise wisdom. One that offers true wisdom, joy, and abundance, and another that offers foolishness and folly. God, who is perfectly wise, invites us to find true wisdom in Him through fearing and following Him. He also warns us not to heed in false wisdom in this life.

Passage: James 1:5; 3:13-18

Trails in life are coming, or are here, for every single person. God invites us through His word to look to Him in the midst of trials in order that we might remain steadfast and count those trials as joy!

Passage: James 1:2-4

In our new series through the book of James, we will be considering the real fruit that comes from real  faith in Christ Jesus. In order to see this, we must first understand that true faith in Christ always produces obedience to God and fruit in the lives of God's people.

Passage: James 2:14-26

Jesus came to build a house, a house where God will dwell with His people! The problem is this: sometimes, people aren’t interested in God’s dwelling with them, or their so distracted by other things, that they miss what’s happening right in front of them.

Passage: John 2:13-22

As the Church, we have the invitation from God to both love our neighbors and share the truth of the Gospel with them. In Christ, we have all we need to learn and to live a life on mission.

Passage: Luke 10:25-37

Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He gave the Church a mission to be faithful instruments in the hands of an empowering and faithful God. The mission is clear, but it is also challenging. The good news, however, is that our God is perfectly faithful in this mission, and He goes with us and empowers us with the Holy Spirit as we go out!

Passage: Matthew 28:16-20

The first Adam was born in a garden and banished in shame, bringing death to all creation. The second Adam was buried  in a garden and left in glory, bringing life to all creation! Christ the King lives, and through Him, we will live!

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15

Palm Sunday is a reminder of what Jesus willingly, knowingly, and joyfully did for us. We must give thanks! We must give thanks with our words, with our songs, with our gathering in His name, but also, as or more importantly we must give thanks with our lives! Every day of your life must be lived from a place of grateful response to what God has done for you in Christ.

Passage: Psalm 118

This Sunday we considered one of the great Hymns of our faith, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. This is the truth of Christianity, that Christ died for our sins, and rose from the grave. Both now, and for eternity, we praise not merely the lamb, but the lamb who was slain, and now lives!

Humble obedience to God and His Word, in Christ is the only way to faithfully step into a life of rest and abundance. In Jesus, we find the better guide in whom we can trust to lay down our pride before and follow.

Passage: Matthew 11:25-30

The blessed life is a life, not of earthly wealth, but Kingdom wealth. Therefore, if
we want blessing, we must invest in the Kingdom!

Passage: Proverbs 3:9-10

The blessed life is a life that has been healed from the sickness of sin! We live in a world that is sick with sin, but we serve a God who is mighty to save. God’s desire and design is for a people of healthy, vigorous, unfading blessing, because He is a God who seeks His glory, and the good of those in Christ.

Passage: Proverbs 3:7-8

A blessed life must hold tightly and exhibit loyal love! Our call to steadfast love and faithfulness begins with being rooted and filled with in the perfect love of God. From that place, we ought to reflect love outwards towards God and others.

Passage: Proverbs 3:3-4

Do you want a good life? The only way to have that, is to trust in the Lord. A heart full of faith in the Lord, is the only way, that you and I can have a blessed life. 

Passage: Proverbs 3:5-6; 1-2

The Proverbs teach us how to walk in the fear of God, to live a life of wisdom, and in that, to experience blessing. In this passage we find that in order to become a community in which the Gospel is held fast to, we must become a people who love to listen to wisdom and receive truth!

Proverbs 15:9-10, 12, 14, 21-22, 25, 31-33

Vision for each of our lives, our community, and this church, must always be grounded in, and oriented around, the Gospel. It is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ we find purpose in all we do.

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 21-26, 45-58

The book of Proverbs teaches us that our words have the power of life and death. For us to walk in wisdom and righteousness, our hearts must be submitted to The Word so that our words might give life!

Passage: Proverbs 15:1-4

So often, we are taught and predisposed to seek our greatest good, not by loving each other, but by loving ourselves. For those who are in Christ, the labor of your life ought to be loving one another.

Passage: Galatians 6:1-10

Christmas is a time to look back and reflect on the joy and meaning of Christ's incarnation; however, it also serves as an opportunity to look forward in wonderful expectation of Christ's return!

Passage: Revelation 22:12-14

Christmas serves as a reminder that God loves His people as He embodies perfect love Himself. Therefore, the heart of the Christian life is simply that we must love because we are loved!

Passage: 1 John 4:7-21

The coming of Christ is only good news to those who are seeking a king! In the Christmas story we see the contrast of the Magi and of Herod who both sought the birth of Jesus, but for different purposes. One sought to bow before and worship the baby king, the other sought to destroy him. 

Every person will either bow to Christ the King, or break themselves against Him.

Passage: Matthew 2:1-18

The message of Christmas is that the Serpent crusher has come at last! Christ Jesus is the serpent crusher who was promised. The Son of God and the Seed of Eve who has broken the power of Satan and will soon defeat sin and death forever!

Passage: Gen 1:1, 1:31, 2:15-17, 3:1-15

Jesus freed His people that they might forever bear the fruit of love. If Christ is your king, then the business of your life must be working from your faith through your love!

Passage: Galatians 5

The Father of heaven has freely promised, by the work of His Son, to form a Kingdom of
those who are united with Christ, who enjoy all the privilege and blessings of sonship, and who live forever in the wonder of His grace. 

Passage: Galatians 3:15-4:31

The cross of Christ is a universally recognized symbol for Christianity, yet many still fail to fully grasp the reality of what makes the cross so significant. It was on the cross that Christ became the cure for our cursed life of sin by becoming the curse Himself. On the cross, Christ gave His life, so that, God's people might have life!

Passage: Galatians 3:10-14

Everyone is trusting in something. Everyone is seeking life in something and looking to a foundation to be their strength. As believers, we know through the Word that life can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ, so we must live by faith!

Passage: Galatians 3:1-9

In a world that calls us to seek life in self, the gospel invites us to be united with the one who is life!

Passage: Galatians 2:20

In moments where evil and wickedness seems to be winning, it is easy to feel angry, tired, and confused. In Psalm 11 we are reminded of how we ought to respond and draw near to the God who has won the battle and sits on the throne.

In a world of fearful evil, we must faithfully fight.

Paul in Galatians gives us insight into the incredible implications of union with Christ as the foundation by which believers experience a secured position, perfect love, and joy-filled communion.

Legalism is a religious justification for putting your trust and security in earthly things, what you can do, and what others think. The cure to legalism isn’t fundamentally
about what we do and don’t do, it’s about who we are found in!
