It started with a tip I was given by my publisher that there was a man in Arkansas that had recently been institutionalized with paranoid schizophrenia. He'd been found naked and carving crude symbols into his skin with a worn out kitchen knife behind a local grocery store. Police and doctors had sorted through his ramblings to find that he'd been a transient for the last 10 years and the week prior to his discovery he'd decided to squat in the Thornton house as it had been abandoned since the early 90's.

The sessions helped somewhat. Evelina learned breathing exercises and ways to distract herself, strategies for keeping the worst of the panic at bay. But the core fear never went away. Every time the sky darkened, every time she felt the first drop of rain on her skin, that same overwhelming dread returned. I swore I heard the beginning of a scream, one born out of sheer horror. But, it died before ever fully forming and the lights came back on, greeting me with emptiness. They were gone and I never saw them again.
Sometimes in these dreams, the clouds parted and an anemic beam of moonlight cut a thin sliver of pale light through the horizon. Against it, thrice I saw a man suspended in mid-air. Too dark to make any detail all I saw was his silhouette, simply… walking across the sky.

Just checking in with you guys to see if this is normal. Best to ask the experts.
It hasn’t happened a lot, but occasionally I pick up a signal where it’s just… well, dead. As in, there’s nothing. No static, no tone shifts. Just silence. It’s eerie as hell.
I looked it up, and generally, ‘dead air’ refers to the silence between broadcasts. What I don’t like is that this silence seems to pop up randomly while I’m tuning. If I’m picking up absolute silence, that means something is there, right?

I notice that she looks just the slightest bit nervous as she watches me.  I have to hide a smile.  She mentioned to me a few weeks ago that she believes in ghosts, and the story I just told her seems to have had an effect on her.
I wasn’t lying when I told her it is a true story, or at least a story that I’ve been told is true.  Anyone who grew up in the general area of Arcadian Heights heard it as a kid.  I imagine that it’s been circulating since the carousel was broken...

It's weird. With the cocktail of medication I take every day, I feel numb. But then I stare down at my wrists and see where I've carved into my own flesh with my nails and smashed my mirror. I've clawed at my door, and there are marks on the wall where I've smashed my head into the tiles. I don't feel it or remember it. But I do see the clumsy stitches across my temple and blackened eyes, split lips and band aids when I’m cleaning my teeth...

Instead I heard the loud thud of something massive hitting the ground. I opened my eyes when I heard the blood curdling scream of my father to see an ungodly sight. There, standing impossibly in front of me, was an enormous spider, with legs as thick as telephone poles and mandibles as long as my arm.
