In June of 2024, Chinese Influencer Yan Ruimin - known for her sporty persona and flashy lifestlye - had posted online that she was travelling to Bangkok soon, and would be happy to invite and pay for someone to travel with her. But just days after arriving in Thailand, she had lost contact with friends and family, prompting local authorities to take action; ultimately piecing together when she was last seen in Bangkok.

In 1993, police in Keelung city, Taiwan, received a report from a young woman who claimed that her husband had been missing for 2 weeks. A few days into the investigation, they would make a peculiar discovery within a cave on the northern coast - a cardboard box with hot pot ingredient labels, and dismembered limbs scattered around. On the morning of 4th December 2024, UnitedHealth Insurance CEO Brian Thompson was walking over the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan for an investors' conference when he was brutally shot and killed by a masked gunman, later identified and arrested as 26 year old Luigi Mangione.

On the morning of 15 March, 1970, 131 passengers boarded Japan Air Lines Flight 351, a routine domestic route between Tokyo and Fukuoka. In May of 2016, police officers in West Hollywood, California, would respond to calls regarding a missing persons report. Upon arrival at a suspect's address, they would find the front door barricaded from the inside, only to discover an even more gruesome scene once they had made their way in. Blood all over the floor and the walls, bits of flesh and muscle scattered in and around the apartment, and the grizzly sight of a mutilated body under a blanket, with the killer sitting right beside.

By all accounts, Renae Marsden seemed to be just like any other 20 year old from Sydney, Australia - bright, bubbly, and with a close-knit family and circle of friends. In late December of 2022, Coco (not her real name) was alone at the home of her boyfriend Lee Ki-Young when she noticed something peculiar about his apartment. She was looking for cat food but couldn't find any as she rummaged through the kitchen and living room. Her search would then lead her to a long hallway with a door at the end that was tied with rope. Curious, she pulled away at the rope, opened the door, and found a dead boy lying on the ground of the closet.

On a snowy January day in Tokyo in 1998, 22 year old Tomoaki Hamatsu would leave his apartment full of hope and ambition as he headed for his first TV audition. And with many of the women answering "bear", this has sparked many debates online regarding violence against women. Incidentally, sexual crimes against women have become increasingly prominent in the past few years as well; which may very well factor into the tiktok trend as well.

In April 2012, Ms. K, a 28 year old Korean woman, was on her way home from work when she had the misfortune of bumping into 42 year old Wu Yuanchun; as Wu would proceed to abduct and assault Ms. K thereafter. However, a sliver of hope emerged during her ordeal as Wu would leave Ms. K alone for a brief moment, allowing her precious time to make a call to the police. Picking up where we left off in last week's episode, we continue with the investigation into a similar case that took place in Germany involving the close friends of Michael Peterson.

But just as the lead starts to look promising, the case takes another turn; this time in the midst of the heated courtroom battle between North Carolina prosecutors and Michael Peterson's defense team. In 1973, Henry Alford was brought to trial for murder on the back of key witness testimonies and even a confession. One had claimed to have seen Alford leaving his home with his gun, while another heard him loudly announcing his intent to murder the victim.

On the evening of 5th November, 2003, 15 year old Um Hyeon-ah called her mother to inform her that she was on the way home from a friend's house.
