Episode 52 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the deliberations that took place when Krishn visited Indraprasth in connection with the proposed Raajsooy Yagy. Krishn summed up the political situation at that point time. Krishn told that Jaraasandh had declared himself to be the emperor and had put large number of kings in prison. Yuddhishthir could not become an emperor as long as Jaraasandh was alive. Krishn told about the number of wars that they had fought against Jaraasandh and had failed to defeat him. Hearing all this Yuddhishthir was inclined to give up his dream of becoming an emperor. Episode 51 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the birth of the idea of King Yuddhishthir doing a Raajsooy Yagy and becoming emperor (samraat). Maharshi Naarad conveyed to Dharmraaj Yuddhishthir the message from Maharaaj Paandu asking him to do a Raajsooy Yagy. Yuddhishthir liked the idea but did not want to rush through such a major task. He first concentrated on building his reputation through implementing the preachings of Naarad regarding a king’s dharm. Subsequently, he discussed the proposal with his brothers, his ministers and his well-wishers. All of them supported the idea. But, Yuddhishthir was not satisfied. He thought that Vaasudev Krishn would be the best person to advise in this regard. So, he sent a special emissary to Dwarka requesting Krishn to come to Indraprasth for discussions. Episode 50 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the second part of the preachings by Maharshi Naarad to Dharmraaj Yuddhishthir. The first part was in episode 49. This part begins with Maharshi speaking about agriculture, irrigation and welfare of farmers. He also talks about taxation and the way a king should punish for wrongs done by offenders. Maharshi asks Yuddhishthir about corruption by his employees. Lastly, Maharshi Naarad speaks about the fourteen faults of kings.

Episode 48 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the building of a huge convention centre for Paandavs by Mayaasur, the engineer of daitys. After the burning down of Khaandav forest by Agni dev, Mayaasur was sitting with Arjun and Krishn feeling most obliged. He offered to do something for Arjun. But Arjun was hesitant in asking for a favour from someone whose life he had saved. So, Arjun asked Mayaasur to do whatever Krishn asked him to do. Krishn asked Mayaasur to build a sabhaa bhavan (convention centre) for King Yuddhishthir. Mayaasur was very happy to do so. He travelled to a far-off place north of Himalayas and got some key valuable construction materials from there. He also got a superb gadaa for Bhim and a special shankh (conch) for Arjun. Mayaasur constructed a massive and extremely beautiful sabha bhavan for Yuddhishthir in fourteen months. Ashwasen, son of snake king Takshak was the first to escape. Mayaasur, the engineer and architect of the king of daitys, was trying to run away from the inferno. Krishn saw him and was about to kill him. Mayaasur saw Arjun and rushed to Arjun with an appeal to save his life. Arjun obliged him and took him under his protection. Rushi Mandpaal had given birth to four sons, with a female bird named Jaritaa. These four sons were also rushis. Rushi Mandpaal prayed to Agni Dev to save his sons. Episode 46 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the events that took place when Khaandav forest was burned down by Agni dev. It was a terrible scene with thousands of animals, birds, creatures dying in the fire or getting killed by either Arjun or Krishn. Devraj Indr rushed with clouds and rained water on the fire. A fierce war broke out between Indr and Arjun. Indr tried all the weapons that he had, but failed. Other devtas, asurs etc. also joined to help Indr. Arjun defeated everyone forcing them to retreat. Krishn and Arjun had gone with families to a resort on the bank of river Yamuna for fun. While they were having fun, a tall Brahmin visited them and asked them to feed him to his full satisfaction. Arjun and Krishn asked the Brahmin about what he wanted to eat. Brahmin said that he was Agni dev and he wanted to eat Khaandav forest. Agnidev told them about how he had tried to do it in the past and had failed due to intervention by Indr. Agnidev wanted them to, on one hand, stop Indr from extinguishing the fire and, on the other hand, prevent any creature from escaping. The two agreed but Arjun requested Agni dev for the right tools and weapons for the task. Agni dev gave Gaandeev Dhanush to Arjun. Agni dev gave chakr and a gadaa to Krishn. Episode 44 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the events after Arjun came to Indraprasth with his new wife – Subhadra, Krishn’s sister. While others welcomed Arjun, Draupadee was angry. She said many harsh words to Arjun, scolded him and told him to go away. Arjun had a hard time consoling Draupadee. He had to apologise many times to her. But when Subhadra met Draupadee, Subhadra managed to win Draupadee over by her respectful attitude. Draupadee blessed Subhadra as a younger sister. Soon, Krishn, Balram and others from Dwarka came to Indraprasth with gifts for the whole family. They were received with warmth, affection and respect. A few days later, all of them, except Krishn, departed. Krishn stayed there to spend time with his friend, Arjun. Soon Arjun and Subhadra were blessed with a son who was named Abhimanyu. After departing from Manipur, Arjun moved to the western coast of India. He came to Prabhas which was close to Dwarka, the city where Vaasudev Krishn was living. Krishn learnt about Arjun’s presence at Prabhas and came to see his old friend. Krishn took Arjun to Dwarka. While at Dwarka, the two went to a fair where Arjun saw Subhadra, Krishn’s sister, and fell in love with her at first sight. Krishn noticed Arjun’s love for his sister. Krishn advised Arjun to kidnap Subhadra. Arjun sought his elder brother Yuddhishthir’s permission and on receiving the go-ahead, kidnapped Subhadra with help from Krishn. Arjun fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. King Chitravaahak permitted them subject to the condition that their first son will belong to the King, shall stay with him and shall be his heir. Arjun accepted the condition. Arjun lived in Manipur for three years and moved towards south after the birth of his son. While moving south, he reached a place which was infested with dangerous crocodiles who were actually apsaras and had lost their beauty due to a curse. Episode 41 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events that led to Arjun leaving Indraprasth for twelve years. Some looters looted cows of a Brahmin. The Brahmin came to the palace of Paandavs and cried for help. All the weapons of Paandavs were kept at a place where Yuddhishthir was spending time alone with Draupadee. Violating their privacy was punishable. However, Arjun decided to walk in to pick up his bow and arrows. Arjun was able to overpower the looters and get the Brahmin’s cows back. As per the agreed rule, Arjun decided to depart from Indraprasth and go to forest for twelve years. His first stop was Gangadwar or Haridwar. At Haridwar while bathing in Gangaa, he was kidnapped by Uloopee, daughter of Naag king. The two married for a night and parted thereafter. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Arjunvanvaas Parv/Chapters 212-213).

Episode 40 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events that took place after Paandavs along with Vaasudev Krishn reached Khaandavprasth, a thick forest. Krishn thought of Indr who understood the reason for Krishn’s thoughts. Indr instructed Vishwakarmaa to build a beautiful city at Khaandavprasth. A rich city with all amenities was built and was named as Indrprasth. After the city was built, Krishn departed telling the Paandavs that Devarshi Naarad would be visiting them soon. Devarshi visited them and told them the story of two powerful brothers Sund and Upsund who had been blessed by Brahmaa that they would not be killed by anyone except by each other. Sund and Upsund fell for a beautiful apsara Tilottamaa and killed each other. Naarad advised the Paandavs to make rules regarding living with their shared wife. Episode 38 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the deliberations that took place in the royal court of Hastinapur when Dhrutraashtr called Bheeshm, Guru Dron and other ministers for consultations. Gangaaputr Bheeshm declared that he did not want any animosity with Paandavs. He advised that half of the kingdom be given to the Paandavs. Guru Dron agreed with Bheeshm’s advice and further advised that the Paandavs should be brought to Hastinapur with due respect. Karn, who wanted Kauravs to attack Paandavs, tried to criticize Bheeshm and Guru Dron. Karn received no support and was put in place by Guru Dron who scolded him. Vidur also supported Bheeshm and Dron. Vidur pressed on Dhrutraashtr to accept the advice received. Pressed like this, Dhrutraashtr accepted the advice of Bheeshm and Dron. Episode 36 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the five weddings of Draupadee with the Paandav brothers, the gifts showered on them and the events that followed the weddings. All the kings who had come for Draupadee’s swayamvar came to know through their detectives that Draupadee had married the five sons of Paandu. This was a great surprise for everyone since they thought that the Paandavs had died in the fire at Vaarnavat. The biggest shock was in the camp of contingent from Hastinaapur. Duryodhan and the sons of Dhrutraashtr along with Karn and Shakuni were dumbfounded. Shakuni advised that they should immediately attack the Paandavs and kill them. Episode 35 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the developments and deliberations that took place before Drupad conveyed his consent to his daughter Krishna marrying five brothers. After Draupadee went away with Arjun and Bheem, Drupad was worried about the varn (vocation) of her would-be-husband. He tried to determine this by checking for their interests. Subsequently, Drupad asked Yuddhishthir directly. Yuddhishthir told Drupad about their family. After the Paandavs had been duly settled, Drupad raised the subject of formal marriage ceremony. At that time, Yuddhishthir informed about the decision of Krishna marrying all five brothers. This was shocking for Drupad as well as his son. It needed Maharshi Ved Vyas to intervene and explain the background of the decision. After listening to Maharshi, Drupad consented to his daughter’s marriage with the five brothers. Arjun asked mother Kuntee to see what they had brought as bhiksha. Without even looking at what Arjun had brought, Kuntee replied that whatever it is, all the brothers should get it. When Kuntee saw Draupadee, she was shocked and sorry at what she had spoken. She asked Yuddhishthir to think it over and take a decision. Yuddhishthir thought over the matter and asked Arjun to go ahead and marry Draupadee. Arjun, however, objected and said that he could not marry till his elder brother was unmarried. Episode 33 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the situation that developed at Draupadee swayamvar after Arjun was successful. Assembled kings were furious. They felt that they had been insulted by Drupad who had invited them, extended all courtesies and then was giving away his extraordinary daughter to a Brahmin. They felt that a swayamvar was only for Kshatriyas and a Brahmin had no business participating in it. Nevertheless, they did not want to kill the Brahmin. Their anger was directed at King Drupad and they moved forward to attack him. Drupad rushed and took shelter with the Brahmins. Bheem and Arjun immediately took positions to defend Drupad. Bheem uprooted a large tree and stood with the tree as a weapon. Karn fought with Arjun, but retreated after a fierce battle. Shaly fought with Bheem who threw him on the ground but did not kill him. Episode 32 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the swayamvar of Draupadee and Arjun’s success there. On reaching the capital of King Drupad, Paandavs stayed at the house of a potter and earned their living by begging. The whole city was having a major festival with kings from across the country assembled there. On the appointed day, all the kings, Brahmins and many others assembled to see the spectacle. Dhrushtdyumn, Draupadee’s brother showed the bow and arrow which were to be used by the candidates to shoot down a rotating target through a narrow hole. Paandvas were sitting there along with Brahmins. Initially, various kings tried to pick up the bow and shoot, but failed miserably. Karn could pick up the bow and was getting ready to shoot when Draupadee intervened to reject him. Other powerful kings also tried and failed horribly. At the end, Arjun who was dressed as a forest-dweller Brahmin, got up. Arjun could hit the target without any difficulty. Arjun defeats the Gandharv very quickly using the special weapon that he had received from his Guru Dron. Arjun presents the defeated Chitrarath to elder brother Yuddhishthir who, on an appeal from the Gandharv’s wife, decides to spare Chitrarath’s life. Chitrarath requests for Arjun’s friendship and the two become friends. The two exchange gifts. Episode 30 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the story of birth of Krishnaa / Draupadee daughter of King Drupad and also of the birth of Dhrushtdyuman son of King Drupad. The story was narrated to the Pandavs by a Brahmin who visited their host in Ekchakra. After losing half his kingdom to Guru Dron, Drupad was extremely disturbed. He felt that none of his sons and relatives were capable and talented. Drupad wanted a son who could defeat Guru Dron. He also wanted a daughter who would be suitable to become queen of Arjun. Drupad convinced Rushi Yaaj to do a yagya for getting such a son and a daughter. Krishnaa and her brother emerged out of fire. The visiting Brahmin also told the Paandavs that a swayamvar of Draupadee had been planned by King Drupad. Maharshi Ved Vyas also visited the Paandavs and instructed them to proceed to Panchaal-nagree where the swayamvar was going to take place. Episode 28 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events and developments after Maharshi Ved Vyas met Paandavs in the forest and took them to Ekchakraa Nagree. Maharshi helped them by arranging their stay in the house of a Brahmin family. Paandavs took to begging as a means of livelihood. One day, Bheem had not gone for begging. Kuntee and Bheem heard their host Brahmin family crying loudly. Brahmin, his wife and his daughter – each of them wanted to sacrifice his / her life, but could not decide who should go. Kuntee asked them the reason for the crisis in their lives. Brahmin explained that there was a cannibal raakshas named Bak. Every day one family of the city (by turns) was required to send huge quantity of cooked rice, two buffaloes and a human being for the cannibal raakshas. Next day was their turn and it was devastating for their family. Kuntee said that they need not worry. Her son, Bheem, will go instead of any of them and will face the raakshas. Episode 27 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the quick turn of events after Bheem killed Hidimb. Paandavs decided to move away quickly from the place since death of such a major raakshas would not go unnoticed. As they started moving Hidimbaa, Hidimb’s sister, once again expressed her love for Bheem and her desire to marry him. Bheem was not inclined and told her to go on the same path as her brother. Yuddhishthir objected to this. Hidimbaa pleaded with Kuntee and also offered to help Paandavs settle down at a pond nearby. Kuntee was moved by her pleadings on the basis of dharm. After the princes had finished their education, Guru Dron asked them to bring King Drupad as a prisoner as guru Dakshina. The ceremony began with collective presentations by all princes. A demonstration fight between Bheem and Duryodhan was next. The fight turned real with half the audience cheering Bheem and the other half cheering Duryodhan. As emotions seemed to get out of control, Guru Dron instructed his son to stop the fight. Arjun was the next and the only planned solo presenter. Arjun presented his skills that left the audience truly impressed and wonderstruck. Episode 17 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events after death of Paandu and Maadree. Kuntee and sons of Paandu returned to Hastinaapur accompanied by rishis. Various rituals related to death of Mahaaraj Paandu were carried out. However, there was no coronation of Yudhishthir. Sensing the bad times that were ahead Maharshi Ved Vyas advised Satyavatee to leave Hastinaapur. Satyavatee accompanied by her daughters-in-law Ambikaa and Ambalikaa left Hastinaapur. They died in the forest after some time. Duryodhan and his brothers were not happy with the return of five sons of Paandu. They noticed that Bheem was clearly the strongest. Bheem was able to beat everyone in all sports. Bheem could even carry ten children of his own age. Duryodhan looked at Bheem’s strength as a threat to his dream of becoming king. He planned to kill Bheem by poisoning him and throwing the body in river. Duryodhan executed his meticulously planned strategy. Episode 16 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the events that led to the death of Mahaaraaj Paandu and decision of Queen Maadree to accompany her husband to the other world. On the fateful day, Paandu and Maadree went for a walk in the forest. Maadree was looking very beautiful. Paandu yielded to the temptation and tried to establish sexual relations with her. Due to the curse of Muni, Paandu died instantly. His wives, Kuntee and Maadree, were shocked and sad. Both wanted to get into fire and follow in the footsteps of Paandu. The rishis, who were present there, advised the two against such a step asking them to instead take care of the five sons. Kuntee accepted their advice. Maadree was determined to die. She handed over her two sons to Kuntee and said her parting words to all present. The same day, Paandu was cremated and Maadree sacrificed her life in the same fire.  Episode 15 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the birth of one hundred and one (101) sons and one daughter of Dhrutraashtr. Gaandhaaree had been blessed by Shiva to have a hundred sons. However, she wanted to be sure that the sons are biological descendants of her husband and herself. So, she sought and received this blessing from Maharshi Ved Vyas. In due course, Gaandhaaree became pregnant. The pregnancy continued for about two years. Episode 14 of the conversations between Yogita Pant and Anil Chawla discusses the birth of three Pandavs – Arjun, Nakul and Sahdev. Paandu thought that success in life depends on hard work, enthusiasm and efforts. The devta who is known for these qualities is Indr, the king of devtas. Paandu decided to please Indr before asking for a son from the king of devtas. Indr copulated with Kuntee and Arjun was born. When Arjun was born, everyone from swarg came to bless the child. Paandu’s other wife, Maadree also wanted a child. She pleaded with her husband to request Kuntee to help her get a child. On request from Paandu, Kuntee obliged. Mahabharat and Valmiki Ramayan are the two fundamental foundation epics of Hinduism. Mahabharat is a vast storehouse of knowledge that teaches one about every aspect of life. The struggle in the epic is the clash between two different life-values. Dwaipaayan Krishn and Vaasudev Krishn put in relentless and continuous efforts to establish and strengthen the same fundamental values and ideals for which Ram fought the war against Raavan.
