Genesis is a story of beginnings (i.e., creation, the flood, etc.). And all these beginnings ultimately point to the most important beginning of all—the story of Christ. We can find our way home; exile is not permanent, and the floating coffin is not our legacy. There is hope in a God who has not lost hope in us.

We associate the power and provision of God’s promises of a redeemer with the imagery of a cross and empty tomb. For the Israelites of the Old Testament, it is found in the imagery of the land.
